Wood graining

This method replicates the appearance of various wood species using layers of paint, glazes, and texture. The result? A natural-looking grain pattern.

Metal finishes

Our painters can recreate the appearance of metallic surfaces, like bronze, copper, or gold, with specialized paints and glazes.

I’ very happy with them. Due to rain they were delayed a week, but Mario kept me updated all the time. He let me know when they would come to power wash and start the painting. When everything was done both Mario and Danny called to make sure I was happy. There was some minor touch ups that I wanted and they both apologized. No big deal. The painter came out the next rain free day and fixed it. No hassle at all. They do not ask for a deposit before they start. All payments are done after they are sure you are happy with the result. The price was comparably with other quotes I got.

Venetian Plaster:
Ancient Technique for a Subtle Effect

Venetian plaster is a faux finish painting technique dating back to ancient Roman times. It involves the application of a lime-based plaster mixed with marble dust and other natural ingredients. This results in a luxurious, polished surface that exudes the elegance of polished marble or natural stone.

At Value Painting and Flooring, our artisans apply the Venetian plaster in thin layers, using traditional methods with a trowel or spatula. Each layer is polished to create a smooth, lustrous surface, offering depth and texture. The outcome? A sophisticated, high-end finish that is the epitome of elegance.

The Art of Venetian Plaster Application

Applying Venetian plaster requires skill, patience, and a keen eye for detail. Our artisans follow a meticulous process to achieve the desired effect:

  1. Surface preparation: The surface must be clean, dry, and free of defects before the application begins.
  2. Primer application: A primer is applied to ensure proper plaster adhesion.

  3. Layering: The Venetian plaster is applied in thin layers, with each layer allowed to dry before the next is applied.

  4. Polishing: After the final layer has dried, the surface is polished with a trowel or spatula, creating a smooth, lustrous finish.

  5. Sealing: A protective sealer is applied to preserve the finish and make it more durable.

Faux Plaster vs. Venetian Plaster:
What's the Difference?

Faux plaster and Venetian plaster techniques both fall under the umbrella of decorative finishes, but they have some distinct differences.

  • Material: Faux plaster uses a combination of paint, glaze, and other materials, while Venetian plaster combines a lime-based plaster with marble dust and natural ingredients.
  • Application: Faux plaster techniques can involve various methods and tools, whereas Venetian plaster is applied with a trowel or spatula in thin layers and polished to a smooth finish.
  • Appearance: Faux plaster offers a range of visual effects, from rustic stone to elegant wood grain. In contrast, Venetian plaster is renowned for its polished, marble-like appearance.
  • Durability: Venetian plaster is more durable and long-lasting compared to many faux plaster finishes. Its lime-based plaster is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, making it an ideal choice for bathrooms and kitchens.
